We can help migrate your accounts to UKDedicated from other providers.
To help understand how this works, please see below
Migration Types
We classify migrations into two types.
Type 1
These can be performed 24/7 and are led by yourself, the customer, we simply restore data you provide us.
Type 2
These require attention of the UKDedicated migrations team and are performed 0800-2100 Monday - Thursday.
When you request this type of migration, we will perform an assessment and establish the best way to migrate your accounts. This typically takes 1-2 working days to complete, after which we will update your ticket to schedule the migration. On some occasions there may be a small wait for this type of migration.
Which type of migration?
To help determine which type of migration you need, please read below.
cPanel Transfers
If your old host uses cPanel (you'll see the cP icon throughout the control panel interface), then the easiest way to move your accounts is:
root access?
If you have root login to your old host, we can move your accounts in bulk. Please open a ticket.
This a Type 2 migration
If you would prefer, you can alternatively follow the non-root access method below, but this is only available for limited numbers of accounts. Please contact support.
non-root access
If your old hosting is a reseller account or shared hosting, then the transfer will be done using cPanel backup files.
You can generate cPanel backup files in your old host cPanel by navigating to 'Backup':
Then click on 'Download a full website backup', and then finally 'Generate backup'.
Depending on your old host and the size of each account, this may take some time to create. You can enter your email to be notified when it's complete.
Once the backup is complete, you can make this available to UKDedicated for download, or upload it to your UKDedicated account and open a UKDedicated Support ticket to request restore.
This is a Type 1 migration.
All other migrations from non-cPanel hosts
These are currently Type 2 migrations
We're working hard to provide greater coverage of Type 1. This article will be updated when this changes.
